Attorney Lourdes M. Zorrilla is the managing attorney and principal at LMZ Law & Associates. She limits her practices to Probate Administration, Real Estate and Birth Certificate Issues in Puerto Rico.
She grew up in Dorado, Puerto Rico. She received her undergraduate degree in Business Administration from the University of Puerto Rico. After completing her BBA, she interned for one of Puerto Rico's premier financial institutions, before entering the University of Puerto Rico Law School where she received her Juris Doctorate.
While in law school, she worked in the Federal District Court of Puerto Rico under the Honorable Judge Aida Deldago, the sitting Chief Justice for the United States District Court for Puerto Rico. She also participated in the University of Puerto Rico Community Outreach Legal Aid Service Center helping local, economically challenged communities with their legal needs.
Attorney Zorrilla, focuses on probate or inheritance cases involving Puerto Rico(”sucesiones”), such as (inheritance issues, contesting validity of wills, transferring property or assets from the “decedent “ or person who died to their heirs), and registering inheritance rights for a property in the Registry of Property ("Registro de la Propiedad"). In addition, she does transactional work in Puerto Rico, such as contracts transfering property and drafting wills (testamentos).
Attorney Zorrilla also represents clients with their Real Property cases, such as title discrepancies, problems with chain of title and other property registration issues before the Registry of Property in Puerto Rico. As well she represents clients with Child Custody Issues and Divorce proceedings in Puerto Rico involving other states.
Attorney Zorrilla is passionate about social justice issues and working in solidarity to empower communities that have historically been marginalized. She is personally involved in social and equality issues involving the LGBTQ+ community, as well as Latino and Puerto Rican social issues in Florida, being a proud member of the Broward Hispanic Bar Association and the Puerto Rico Bar Association of Florida.
